Mr. Ali is a Managing Director and Head of Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) and Financial Technology (FinTech) Investment Banking at Hovde Group, based in Chicago, Illinois. He brings more than 20 years of experience across technology and financial technology as both an investment banker and operating executive.

Prior to joining Hovde Group, Mr. Ali co-founded Khoshbin Capital, a boutique advisory firm focused on providing M&A and capital markets advisory services to founder-led businesses. Previously, he led the Emerging FinTech and PropTech vertical within the investment banking division at Bank of America. Earlier in his career, he worked at Barclays, where he began his investment banking career following business school.

Mr. Ali has advised on a broad range of technology and FinTech transactions across IPOs, M&A and private capital raises. Select capital markets experience includes IPOs for NerdWallet, Block and AvidXchange, among others. Select M&A advisory experience includes Credit Karma’s sale to Intuit, Earnest’s sale to Navient, and Red Ventures’ acquisition of Bankrate, among others. In addition, Mr. Ali has advised on select private capital raises for Roostify and OneWeb, as well as Goldman Sachs on its secondary sale of Better.com shares to SoftBank

In addition to his banking experience, Mr. Ali has served in operating and strategic leadership roles. He worked in corporate strategy and development for Fortent, a governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software company acquired by NICE Actimize, and also served briefly as the founding CFO of a software and robotics company focused on the PropTech sector.

Mr. Ali received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Political Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his MBA from Duke University – The Fuqua School of Business.

Mr. Ali is licensed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and holds Series 63 and Series 79 licenses.
