Mr. O’Donnell serves as Director, Capital Markets at Hovde, with responsibility for equity and debt capital raising. Mr. O’Donnell has more than two decades of experience in capital markets and corporate finance, with a focus on U.S. financial services companies. He is an expert in financial forecasting, M&A, and capital and valuation analysis within the banking industry.

Prior to joining Hovde, he served as Director of Investment Banking at Alden Investment Group, a broker-dealer and RIA platform with expertise in the financial services vertical. Prior to this position, Mr. O’Donnell served for nearly a decade as Chief Investment Officer at Alden Capital Management, managing a hedge fund and two long-only GIPS-compliant strategies that invested exclusively in the financials sector.

Mr. O’Donnell also held positions on the sell-side as a Director of Research and Senior Research Analyst at two regional broker-dealers covering commercial banks. He is credited with creating the Core Value and Failure Ratio metrics, the latter of which is included in S&P Global’s regulatory dataset. He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and holds a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Mr. O’Donnell is licensed with FINRA as a registered representative and holds the following licenses: Series 7, 24, 66, 79, 86, and 87.
