Mr. Chandonnet is a Managing Director and head of the Financial Strategy Advisory Services practice at Hovde Groups. The Financial Strategy practice he heads works with financial institutions on balance sheet, capital and earnings management strategy as well as on bank technology and Fintech collaboration initiatives.
Mr. Chandonnet has been involved in the banking industry since 1986, working predominantly with community and regional banks on balance sheet-focused advisory services that integrate best-in-class accounting, regulatory, capital markets and Asset-Liability Management expertise as well as technology expertise. Prior to joining Hovde Group, he founded BankSrategies.net, a consulting firm that provided consulting, training and business development services to participants in the banking ecosystem, including regulators, investment banks / broker-dealers, the FHLB system, and FinTech companies that are focused on depositories. He was a partner and Chief Balance Sheet Strategist for Sandler O’Neill & Partners, and has also served as head of Bank Strategy for JPMorgan Securities, Lehman Brothers, and First Union Capital Markets. Early in his career, Mr. Chandonnet spent five years as a bank strategist at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, and five years as asset/liability and financial analyst and software designer for a community bank in the Boston area.
He serves as a member of the board of directors of Kearny Bank and Kearny Financial Corp., a publicly-traded $5 billion banking company in Fairfield NJ, where he chairs the board’s asset-liability management committee and serves on the Enterprise Risk management committee. He also serves as a faculty member at the FFIEC’s training facility in Washington DC, where he provides ongoing training on balance sheet management issues to bank and credit union regulators.
Mr. Chandonnet holds a Master’s Degree in finance from Bentley University in Waltham, MA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.
